Mistakes that Create

We make mistakes, but our mistakes are what make us.
They point out our flaws, to mold and to shape us.
Bringing us down, they bend and they break us.
The trials and pain are then what create us.

River Feels

Love is like a river. It has its highs and lows, but it is constantly flowing. It requires sacrifice, but returns a feeling that can't be found anywhere else. It becomes a part of your life, your dreams, and your heart--something irreplaceable.

The Joy is found through Faith.

Why do things like this have to happen?
Life just doesn't seem fair.
When we lose someone close, a dear loved one,
it seems that God doesn't care.

Why do things like this have to happen?
It is easy for our minds to doubt.
Start to question our current existence,
and wonder what life is about.

Why do things like this have to happen?
They leave us, going home way too soon.
I can't help but think of a beautiful phrase,
that is sung in a familiar tune:

"Come, come, ye Saints,
 no toil nor labor fear;
But with joy wend your way.
Though hard to you this journey may appear, Grace shall be as your day...

...And should we die
before our journey's through,
Happy day! All is well!
We then are free
from toil and sorrow, too;
With the just we shall dwell!"

We can know that they are safe now,
away from their trials and tears.
Their journey has come to an end here on earth,
they have earnestly conquered their fears.

I believe things like this Have to happen,
it's all a part of his Plan.
Though hard it seem for us at times,
He has the faith that we can.

Just think of a life without trials,
not a soul who experiences pain.
But without remorse and confusion,
there really would be nothing to gain.

And if we do question our existence,
and start to wonder what life is about.
We can know with a quiet assurance,
that God loves us, without a doubt.

Now, imagine if they were still with us.
What would they want us to do?
Lose our faith? Lose our hope? Get frustrated?
NO! They would teach us the things that are True!

Of Gods love, and his perfect awareness,
of the flaws and imperfections we hate.
Of the savior and his loving atonement,
His resurrection which opens the gate.

Just like the time they spent teaching,
Testifying of God's great plan.
The one that brings hope to all people.
He's called the Savior of Man.

Through him we can see all our loved ones.
We can know that this life is a test.
What it takes is a constant commitment,
A promise that we'll be doing our best.

If I were to guess what they'd tell us,
if they were here with us today.
It's to "never give up on the faith that you have,
Because that Faith will reunite us one day."

You Do You

Love, Romance, Hope, Passion.
Those are all words that are way out of fashion.
Pizza, Friends, a Guys night out.
Now that right there’s what I’m talkin about.

Ya see, Love it ain’t easy,
it doesn’t come cheap.
It takes a whole lot
to find someone to keep.

So why waste your time
on one weekend without?
You’ve got it Made!
There’s No reason to pout.

YOU’ve got nothing but freedom,
so take a quick weekend Jaunt.
Go hang with the guys,
just DO what YOU want.

Cuz it won’t be that way forever,
in fact, later on it’s worse.
You can’t hang with the guys
if you brought your wife’s purse.

So go out and make it awesome.
Don’t waste your time and Sit.
You’ll find that special someone,

it just might take a bit.

The Way

Can the pain that I feel go away?
Are the trials I have here to stay?
I don't understand,
If it's part of Gods plan,
There has to be an easier Way.

Why has my path gone astray?
I'm losing more hope everyday?
I just want to know,
The direction to go,
Oh please tell me father, I pray.

The Way my child, you already know.
My Son I have sent thee to show,
The Way that you need,
The strength to succeed,
To follow his light and to grow.

I never said it wouldn't be hard,
I never promised you'd leave without scars.
But the pain that you feel,
Is the way that you heal,
And BECOME the child I KNOW you are.

Something

Expect something from me, and I will exceed it.
Challenge me something, and I will meet it.
Promise me something, and I will keep it.
Teach me something, and I will use it.
Share with me something and I will treasure it.
Tell me something and I will never forget it.
Hope for something and you will get it.
Pray for something and don't regret it.
Today is something, now go and live it.

Just Because

I don't believe it Momma,
No, It just can't be true,
There's no way that it's possible,
You don't look a day over 22.

I just wanna tell you thank you,
For all the things you do.
For helping us, when we're down,
I can always count on you.

For staying strong every single day,
At least showing nothing less,
You are my example in every way,
You really are the best.

Maybe Someday I will repay you,
It probably won't be now,
so many things you have done for me
I really don't know how.

To you I will always be grateful,
Always number one in my heart.
I will work harder to show you.
A happy birthday is where I will start.

So happy birthday Momma,
You're the best there ever was,
I hope you Have a great day,
And I love you, just Because.

The Complimenter

Sometimes we say things that shouldn't be said at all.
A lapse in our judgment leaves us with a bad call.
Words are then spoken without feelings involved.
Making people feel lesser, like nothing at all.

But that's not how it Should be...Tearing people down.
That's completely wrong, it's the other way around.
Our words are our power, they can change and create.
They can build up a friendship to become something great.
They can heal injured souls of their anger and hate,
or calm worried minds with too much on their plate.

Now, our words turn to actions that lead to our fate,
because words; once they're said, are hard to negate.
But kind words; once said; are followed by good.
They help the worried mind go from "I can't" to "I could."
A compliment to a stranger takes 3 seconds of time.
But the blessings that follow are truly sublime.

So make it a challenge to say something great.
Be known as “The Complimenter" not the angry classmate.
Go out and do it, there is no time to wait,

the world is full of plenty who only know how to hate.
